Whaletone Premiere Performance Introduction

Whaletone Opera is a musical journey in England and Japan led by Makoto Nomura and Hugh Nankivell. Composed by collaborative means with many artists and community groups, it has been a huge process of musical consequences.

The World Premiere performance of Whaletone Opera has been created and presented during April at Ezuko Hall in Japan. The music is both traditional and modern, featuring many vocal styles. It is funny, dynamic & adventurous. The story involves banana cake, plum blossom remedies, musical acupuncture, a storm, a wedding, creation of a new folk-dance, a Jamaican cow and a hippopotamus.
