Whaletone Opera - Act Two
- The Witches Garden
honeysuckle text We wrote a story, invented music, created songs, made new dances and put up trellises.

We composed a glorious overture, used an Opera singer (Anna), produced a mesmerising hypnotic witches spell (based on English understandings of Japanese words!), created an overhanging garden symphony, wrote songs in consequences, played new instruments, designed pictorial backdrops and featured fish and chips whenever possible.

Working with dynamic theatre company Full Body and the Voice (adults with disabilities) added much to the second Act and they will be involved in the rest of the opera.

We worked together 10am-4pm Monday to Friday and performed on Friday evening.

Guest Artists : Melissa Holding - koto; Ben McCabe - French horn and drum kit; Charlotte Bishop - 'cello; Anna Barry - voice

Act Two Story
Sumo Girl arrives in a garden. The garden is filled with daffodils, honeysuckle, purple orchids and much more (slugs, paddling pool, swing, hose, naughty children, lunch, digging....).

The garden is owned by a friendly witch, who realises that Sumo Girl is sad. She makes a magic spell and turns Sumo Girl into a hippopotamus. Hippo then eats fish and chips and is very happy! She shares her bath, which is also a canoe, with the sun. Blackpool next?
